With the release of the Queensland Government’s new Big Plans for Small Business Strategy, a number of initiatives are being implemented to amplify the voice of small business in policy and program design. Among the first initiatives to roll out is reinvigorating the Queensland Small Business Advisory Council (QSBAC).
The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) is seeking expressions of interest for nomination for QSBAC membership from Queensland small business owners, including social enterprises. The QSBAC will focus on significant challenges for small business related to business growth, sustainability and employment. Selected members will provide advice and solutions to its Chair, the Honourable Di Farmer MP, Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development.
The Advisory Board Centre is proud to be supporting DESBT in this initiative through the coordination and promotion of the expression of interest process. The outcome of the EOI aims to secure a diverse mix of 8 to 10 influential small business owners, with representation from priority audiences and specific industry sectors. This is a great opportunity for Queensland small business owners to provide direct advice to make sure the Big Plans for Small Business Strategy is delivering results for Queensland small businesses.
Louise Broekman, Founder and CEO of the Advisory Board Centre, shared her sentiments on the importance of this initiative, “As a member of COSBOA, the Advisory Board Centre actively supports key projects to raise the voice and visibility of small businesses in Australia. As identified in the recent release of the 2021 State of the Market Global Report, the utilisation of Advisory Board’s for collaboration and problem-solving is growing worldwide. It is fantastic to see the adaptation of this model for government and business stakeholder engagement.”
